Global and Functional Campaign Plans
Global and Functional Campaign Plans are mandated by the CJCS through the Joint Strategic Capabilities Plan (JSCP). These are normally multi-year plans originated by Functional Combatant Commanders that require the accomplishment of strategic objectives within multiple theaters that extend beyond the AOR of a single Geographic Combatant Commander.
Examples of JSCP-tasked Global Campaign Plans include:
- U.S. Transportation Command's Global Campaign Plan for Distribution,
- U.S. Northern Command's Global Campaign Plan for Pandemic Influenza.
Examples of JSCP-tasked Functional Campaign Plans include:
- U. S. Special Operations Command's responsibility under the Unified Command Plan forsynchronizing Department of Defense plans against global terrorist networks.
- U.S. Strategic Command's responsibility for Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction; Deterrence; Space; and Cyberspace. The last mission area is the responsibility of USSTRATCOM's sub-unified command, U.S. Cyber Command.
