The Joint Strategy Review is a classified process led by the Joint Staff J-5 that assesses the strategic environment, national security objectives, and strategic priorities over a designated time frame. It is the synthesis of Comprehensive Joint Assessment (CJA) information and Joint Staff functional estimates that informs the Chairman’s “advise, assess and direct” activities. The Review can produce several different formal or informal outputs.
The JSR process is intended to inform advice development, enrich and refine existing products and processes already being done within the J-directorates, and to serve as a reference for follow-on Joint Staff activities. Â Information provided by the CJA is integrated through the JSR process between November and April of each annual cycle within the Joint Strategic Planning System (JSPS).
